The brush bar that rotates on the top of the device can be able to reach into small spaces. It also has self-cleaning extractors that grind hairs to keep them from getting tangled. When I tested the Jet Bot, it picked up a lot of debris from my carpets and hardwood floors. It missed a couple of small pieces of furniture in the corner of my dining room and had to go back over them however it was a success overall. It won my tests compared to Roomba. Roomba because its side brush was able to better reach around edges, and it was more effective in picking small debris. Samsung Jet Bot can be controlled through the SmartThings App and set to clean automatically at times that you prefer. It can also be scheduled to clean certain rooms or areas, as well as adding virtual no-go zones (and physical ones if you prefer). The Roomba iRobot 960 from iRobot The Roomba 980 is iRobot's top-of the top of the line robot, and it's also the most expensive. It's also an excellent performer that puts it in the same league as the top self-emptying robot vacuums for its sheer cleaning power due to its HEPA filter and powerful battery. It also comes with a clever little feature called CarpetBoost which automatically boosts the power when it detects it's on carpet, which is nice. Like previous Roomba models, this one's frame is circular, and it has a single, clear window at the top, which houses cameras. This model is smart due to its camera. It makes use of the camera in order to perform VSLAM (Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) by analyzing distinctive features in a room and then storing them. It then compares this information to the relative positioning gyro IMU and wheel odometry information to build a map of the room it's in. It's a clever system, and it does pretty well on carpets, which is which is where the Roomba generally has a longer time than it does on hard surfaces. There are a few other amazing smart functions on the 980 too, like the ability to create the weekly schedule for cleaning and to play a sound that will help you locate your robot. The front panel has a large Clean that will get your robot started. There are also indicators that indicate when it is charging, connected to Wi-Fi and when the bin is full. If you're looking to tidy up a little mess, the 980 also comes with the ability to clean up spots that are quite basic, but it doesn't cover as much space as the most advanced options out there. If you have wires that could be a danger to your robot, you can utilize the virtual wall feature to create a wall that tells it to stay clear of them. The app that comes with the 980 is also very simple to use and will give you an excellent visual overview of the way your robot is operating and what it's doing. You can also create schedules and play with other settings, such as bin capacity and reduced power mode. The iRobot Roomba 960 The name iRobot is almost synonymous with robot vacuums, and the $700 Roomba 960 is somewhere in the middle of the brand's vast range of models. It's less expensive than the top-of-the-line 980, yet it has many of the same features. It comes with cameras to navigate and a smartphone application with precise cleaning maps. It also has a Virtual Wall, which creates an invisible barrier that the Roomba will be unable to cross. The 960 performed well, particularly on floors that were not bare. It picked up a lot of food crumbs, cat litter and tracked dirt. It is also adept in climbing over obstacles like stair runners and the legs of tables and chairs. It was able to suck up pet hair, too, although it did struggle with some finer debris like baking soda. One thing that separates the 960 from other Roomba models is that it has an extra dustbin to collect large particles that reduces maintenance needs. It can be empty at the push of a button, through the iRobot HOME app or by using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant voice commands. The iRobot HOME App allows you to personalize each cleaning cycle. You can set the number passes and select from a variety of modes such as edge clean, or a full room sweep. It will also send an alert when it's nearly to empty the dirt container. The 960 is easy to operate, using buttons on the top and buttons in the iRobot HOME app or through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It's also easy to maintain and has an indicator at the top that shows battery's lifespan and an automatic docking station that moves debris from the dirt compartment to the bin when you're ready to empty it. The iRobot HOME app can also show you the exact location of each object it has collected and offers how-to videos for different maintenance tasks. The battery life of the 960 isn't great, but it's good enough to let you enjoy it throughout the day without having to worry about charging before bedtime. The iRobot HOME App is available on both iOS and Android devices. The Roomba 970 from iRobot The Roomba 970 is a robot vacuum cleaner that is compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa. It uses the same advanced navigation technology as other recent iRobot vacuums and can recognize stairs. It also has a central camera to scan the floor as it moves about and can recognize furniture, walls, and other obstacles so that it doesn't randomly bump into objects. It also can use the virtual wall tool to establish boundaries that the robot cannot traverse. This model is different from previous models because it uses lithium-ion batteries instead metal Hydride. This means that it will last longer between charges, and it has more power when cleaning. It's not as fast as the Shark AI Robot, but it's still pretty quick and can move around a room with ease. Like the other models of the 960 series the 970 is controlled via the iRobot app and connects to your Wi-Fi network with no setup required. It has an incredibly small handle on the front that you can press to manually return it to its charger and a spot-cleaning feature that lets you concentrate on a specific area of your home. The 960 robots use the same three-stage process as the other iRobot machines, combining the power of agitation and lifting to clean the floor thoroughly and get rid of dirt. The 960 works well on bare floors and can pick up a lot of dust, hair, and other debris, thanks to its brushrolls and suction. However, it has a difficult time with high-pile carpet and tends to leave a bit of sand in its tunnel. It has a large dirt compartment that can be notified when it is full either through an app or indicator on the top of the robot. It can also be programmed to clean at a scheduled time and we had no trouble installing this feature in our tests.
